Sue
Associates was established in 1963 as an Architectural Design firm
and has since then, completed successful planning projects both
in Asia and in the United States. Our firm has a network of multi-disciplinary
consultants and can call upon the expertise of these firms to form
a design team geared to meet the unique needs of each project specifically.
Sue
Associates is headquartered in the United States, but has the capability
to provide services in Asia as well. Our project Teams are composed
of staff members chosen for the locale of each project and have
in past experiences, formed teams with local firms. This approach
has been highly successful in allowing design and construction documents
to be prepared with standards suitable for local use. Every project
is geared towards the particular needs of each client. Our philosophy
is to encourage an ongoing dialogue with the local community and
client to evolve the best possible combination of contemporary and
local aesthetic vernacular. As a result, Sue Associates has received
numerous awards for outstanding design. Our firm is equipped with
the latest technological equipment and software and provides numerous
in-house
capabilities, such as model making and presentation renderings.
Our staff includes licensed California Contractors as well as Architects
with a support staff of Computer draftsmen and programmers. We are
fully capable of providing Construction Management Services in addition
to Architectural Design Services.

Mr.
Sue has over 40 years of private practice in architecture, construction,
and construction management in Asia and for 36 years in the San
Francisco Bay Area. He is a licensed architect as well as being
a licensed Contractor in California and has earned both his Bachelor
of Arts Degree in Architecture and Master of Architecture and City
Planning at the University of California at Berkeley. Mr. Sue served
9 years as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Oakland. Besides
his practice as an architect, Mr. Sue is an ordained minister by
the San Francisco Presbytery. He is a member of the United Board
for Christian Higher Education in China and has served as Minister
in Pastorates in California, the University of Michigan, Thailand
and Hong Kong.

Ms.
Sue is both a licensed architect and contractor in California with
over 10 years of experience in private practice in planning and
design for both private and public projects. She earned her B.A.
with a major in Architecture and M.Arch. at the University of California
at Berkeley and attended the postgraduate program at The Berlage
Institute in Amsterdam, Holland. She has also served as an assistant
lecturer at the Architecture Department at the Chinese University
in Hong Kong. Ms. Sue was a Scholarship awardee and participant
for the Small Changes Conference for Urbanism in Zagreb
in Croatia and also for the International Laboratory of Architecture
and Urban Design in Venice, Italy. She was the winner of the Charles
Moore Memorial Scholarship and the esteemed Eisner Award in Architecture.
In practice, her work on the Westminster House Student Housing project
won the Berkeley Architectural Heritage Association Design Award
in 2004.
